By the time you're reading this you undoubtedly will have attended worship service at your church or perhaps even visited a church like I did today. If not, then please allow me to suggest that you read notes you've taken at previous services, listen to a recording of a sermon or message you heard or last, but not least, view a television broadcast of a worship service.
Sunday (or the Sabbath) is the designated day of the week when we are given a specific directive from God to take a break: relax, release and reflect. The habit I want to spotlight today is Selah or pause. Think of the goodness of God. Take in the splendor of His creation, whether you're in a warm, sunny climate or in a snowy, frigid region of the country like I am. Count it all Joy.
Reflect upon God's greatness. Spend time today basking in the warmth of God's love for you. Thank and worship Him for the bad things that could have happened in your life, but didn't. Praise Him for all that He's done for you already, and for the manifold blessings He has in store for those who love him. Give Him glory for His sovereignty.
Psalm 66:3
Say unto God, How terrible art thou in thy works! through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee.
Say unto God, How terrible art thou in thy works! through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee.
Exercise:
Take
out a pen and paper and really spend time to reflect on how great God
has been in your life. Write them down, in other words, count your
blessings. Name them one by one. As you list each blessing, truly thank
God from the core of your soul.
